When other faculty members wandered over to Montblanc's place, they found his office and apartment completely empty. "He even took the lightbulbs, switchplates and doorknobs," one faculty member explained. "The place was really clean." Montblanc left no forwarding address, but a post it note on the wall said Au revoir!

Fruits On Campus

August and September are very fruity months on the Ched U campus. The rare Asian plum trees are bursting forth.

Besides blueberries, raspberries, pears and apples, the campus also boasts plenty of blackberries.

Niagra Grapes were planted just a few years ago.

We would like to start an actual orchard and a Christmas tree farm on campus, but we need volunteers.

*The giant mice have all left campus and gone to Los Angeles with Stuart Little (who visited campus last week and offered them roles in a horror movie he's producing next year. They're off to taking acting lessons.)

The latest fad on campus is to wear moccasins made by Native Canadians. Betty does beading for Prairie Moon --one of the Canadian companies that makes moccasins.

It's a hip look and comfortable too.

Students may be sporting Mukluks next winter. Kate Moss bought black Mukluks from Prairie Moon and she looks HOT in them.

The Unicycle Lanes have been use for a week now and are working fine.

A major fuel-free transportation plan is in the works at Chedwick U.

The admissions office has a nifty new doorway, thanks to Dean Sneed's handling of the funds for buying new computers, etc... for the admissions office. This amusing Jaws entryway falls under the Dean's new plan to label 99% of funds as Etcetera Funds.

The doorway leads to a meet and greet area where various faculty members will attempt to scare the applicants. "We don't want students that frighten easily at Ched U." one professor explained.

Chedwick U's First Annual BlogFest 2008 is August 1-4 2008. . Please let us know if you are attending the event.

Day 1 - Friday- Campus meet and greet
Day 2 -Saturday-general pandemonium
Day 3- Sunday- some attendees will be driving to nearby Bethel to attend the annual Hippiefest concert & freakout.
Day 4- Monday- Recovery Day, organizing transportation, (some people may need to stay a few days longer.)
Day 5- Day 6- Blogfest officially ends on Wednesday August 6 at noon. You don't need to go home, but you must leave campus.

This is not a virtual event-- this will actually be happening. RESERVE a space now, on Campus. spaces are filling up. Once the indoor spaces are full, we'll have to ask you to bring your own tents or campers. Plenty of space for up to 6 RVs or campers and 100s of tents.

Big Mice on Campus

Ched U science students release the first batch of SuperMice to destroy the killer gypsy moths. The Fiber Arts students made little fleecy pullovers for the super mice to wear, as they are hairless. The mice are doing a good job of pointing at gypsy moth nests and discussing a plan of attack.

The Seamy Side of Campus Life

We returned to the Ched U campus and were horrified at the vast number of nasty gypsy moth nests we saw!

We got busy poking the nests and beating the evildoers to death with sticks. It was a gruesome job, but we had to do it!

Ched U science students are busy creating a race of SUPER field mice to completely obliterate the nasty gypsy moth invaders.

Exhibition Highlights

On May 3rd the Campus hosted an exhibition of the Sneed Collection: Paperweights and Cookie jars.

Today, the Cookie Jar portion of the the exhibition was packed up to prepare for the move to its new home. The photo above shows 1/8th of Sneed's impressive collection.

Those who missed viewing The Sneed Collection on May 3rd, will be glad to at least see these highlights. These are Dean Sneed's favorite cookie jars. Each has a sentimental memory and long droning story attached to it.

Sneed's most prized Cookie Jar is "The Cathy." The story behind this cookie jar made many people in the crowd cry a little. It was so sad, some people had to leave before seeing the entire exhibit. Dean Sneed was an excellent and thorough guide, willing to take the time to chat at length about each individual cookie jar.

"The Big Boy." The story behind this one was so convoluted that the dean has agreed to tell it again, with an interpreter, at some future date.

The exhibition drew crowds from all over the Catskill Region and raised almost $2,000 for the dean's fund.

The Sneed Tower

The tower addition to the dean's office was completed on Saturday. A team of decorators worked furiously to get the space ready for occupancy. The occupant, (Dean Sneed) had insisted on a tower, but not an ivory tower. "Something cheerier!" The dean requested. The dean's main office will now occupy two levels of the tower and one turret with outdoor terrace, (not seen from this angle.) His former offices will be occupied by his paperweight and cookie jar collections which he has graciously donated to the school as The Sneed Collection.

There will public showing of The Sneed Collection: Paperweights and Cookie jars on Saturday May 3rd. There are still tickets available at the Ched U box office (which needs someone to run it.)

Our New Meditation Center

We will continue working on our meditation center and will be planting 'chocolate peppermint' plants (seen above) all around the center as a ground cover. The center is located at our actual campus and should be ready for student use by June 1st. A Message from the President

NEWS:
Things are going well here at Ched U. Our Official Spring Break ends on Wednesday and all students are expected to wander back into classrooms sooner or later. Our Librarian is waiting for the new Library building to be completed and for next issue of OPE to arrive. Our school of music is focusing on the works of Leonard Cohen. Many of our students spent their Spring Break Holiday protesting the war in Iraq, and /or the situation between Tibet and China. The C.U. Eyeballs Mini Golf Team is busy practicing for their game against the Brookville Bladders on Saturday. We are looking forward to opening our actual campus in the Catskills next month. There were a few break-ins while the campus was closed, but the mice who broke in will be leaving again as soon as the President is once again in residence. Our very first student, Catlin has been awarded the "student of the year" award for 2007.
This summer we look forward to the expansion of the finger paint studio, the creation of a Buddhist Studies Center, and we invite you to share your ideas to improve life on both campuses.

Professor Montblanc is opening his own campus eatery today. Montblanc's will host a virtual chocolate and wine festival all week, and will host a gala brunch next week, to showcase some of his fine cuisine. Honor Student Catlin, will be assisting Montblanc in this venture. Montblanc says she will be in charge of ordering and sampling all of the edibles and drinkables.

Males Flock to Women's Studies

An unprecedented number of male students have signed up for women's studies and have volunteered to help our new professor, Ramona Wollstonecraft grade papers. Professor Montblanc donated a case of wine to the WS department today, as a gesture of friendship. Professor Wollstonecraft does not have to light her own cigarettes or buy her own lunch. "I feel so comfortable here." She said.

School Mascot Stolen!

We will be exploring the uninhabited island of Lítla Dímun for 3 days and visiting the inhabited islands for 10 days. The Chedwick Campus Cinema opened today. "All is Normal" will be showing for 3 days, followed by "I'm Not There" for 3 days, followed by an assortment of old classic films until January 8th, including a Marx Brothers Film festival on December 25th.

CRISIS ON CAMPUS: DEAN SNEED ABDUCTED

An angry mob of protesters stormed the campus of Ched U today. "It was like an angry red and purple wave swept through the place!" said innocent bystander Fred Wong Jr. Wong had been touring the campus as a prospective student when suddenly hundreds of post menopausal agitators stormed the campus.
Sixty or so leaders of the group took over the Faculty Dining room and held a Press conference.

"We have a hostage!" Shouted the leader of the group, who gave her name as Red Queen Hypothesis. She explained that she and a dozen members of the group had arrived on campus before the huge mob arrived. They found Dean Sneed napping in his office and carried him off to a waiting vehicle. "He will not be released until our demands our met!"

The Queen's secretary, Red Happiness, said that the tea was ready, and we will be updated later.

Outside the dining hall protesters continue to riot. We hope our students and teachers are able to escape to safety.

It took some coaxing to get the artist known as Kurt to join us as Director Emeritus of the School of Fine Arts.

Now that he is part of our team, we can be assured that our school of Fine Arts will be ranked as the #1 illusory online college art school. Director Kurt will be reviewing all prospective student portfolios, and will grant admission to those lucky few who meet his high standards. He will be looking for students who possess originality, resourcefulness and individuality, yet are not "too good" to kow tow to The Director on a regular basis.

His personal life is a complete mystery, except for the fact that he has long been known as the snappily dressed man about town. His valet, Todd will be on campus also. Todd is 'special' and may need some minor assistance from time to time.

The late Mrs. Paulie Boccobutto ( aka Marie Vallebuona Boccobutto) left her huge fortune to Chedwick University. We spent 10% of this fortune building a beautiful yet practical memorial granite coffee kiosk on campus. (see detail of memorial, above)

The other 90% will cover the costs of the opening ceremony for the "Marie B. Memorial Granite Coffee Kiosk."

There was a dusting of snow on the Chedwick Parkway this morning. We were all afraid to drive our cars on an unploughed road with no Starbucks in sight! We parked our vehicles in the lower lot and looked up the road. Dean Sneed suggested we walk to campus. He said it couldn't be more than a quarter of a mile. "It will take us 10 minutes at most" he said. Professor Montblanc argued that it was too far, and the pavement might be "slippy". We decided to keep the campus closed today, just to be on the safe side.

DEC .1, 2007
Thank you, future trustees, future administration, faculty andstaff. Good Morning! This is indeed a “groovy” (in the vernacular of young people) moment in a life of yes, many great moments. There is nothing that can compare to this experience. It is challenging–it tests my commitment and stamina. It is exciting–it puts me on another trail yet to be blazed.(First cat to be president of a university) But most of all, this moment is humbling. I never really envisioned standing on these hallowed grounds as the President of this great institution.

Well, I am still blinking my eyes. Humble, that’s it–humble.

Welcome! I especially want to welcome those of you who have traveled far through cyber space to celebrate these
humble beginnings of Ched U. extraordinary people like the distinquished Dean Sneed, Professor Montblanc, and our student, Catlin.

Let us celebrate together the mystique, spirit, endurance, and future triumphs of the place we know as Ched U.

We have received noteworthy mention in Blogging Media over the past several months and Ched U already has earned a reputation for Napping and Sleep Studies.

Our student is interacting quite well with the faculty.

We must strive to produce graduates who can think for themselves and
communicate with others, graduates who can deal constructively with ambiguity and change, graduates who can pop a decent bowl of popcorn, and can just enjoy staring at clouds and starry skies without having to worry about being "tested" on weather knowledge or astronomy.

Now is the time to show the rest of the world what it means to be a Chedwickian. We can do anything and our place is anywhere we want to be.

For students who feel Latin is too difficult, Professor Montblanc will offer an informal Pig-Latin class every Thursday evening (BYOB) and for students who feel the French language is too difficult, Professor M. will offer a class in French posing and gesturing every other Wednesday at 9pm.

I feel very honored and privileged to introduce Chedwick University’s Dean of the College of Arts and So Forth. Prior to his assuming this position, Merle Sneed was in a state of transition. This transition period offered him a unique opportunity to reflect on a whole bunch of stuff.

During one of his virtual recruiting visits to Chedwick, I suggested he read the book "Curious George goes to College" As he began to read about The Man in the Yellow Hat's philosophy regarding leadership, he e mailed that he felt an immediate kinship with his view. Like The man in the Yellow Hat, Sneed aspires to sort of guide rather than to command.

Our first guest speaker will be Dr. Spike Saguaro. He will be speaking to all Chedwick Students on Friday, November 30th. So far, Chedwick University has only one student (Catlin) Catlin is our finest student and is on the Dean's list. Except we're not sure we have a Dean. Merle Sneed was supposed to be Dean of Students, but he has not been seen on campus as yet.
